Lunch Hour Pottery Wheel

There is a large group of avid fans of the pottery wheel who use our OPEN ART time to refine their skills. I intervene only occasionally...usually students help each other get that clay centered and remember the steps to create a wheel thrown pot!

  1. Hi Ms. Mclaughlin,
I was a lunchtime thrower back in the 90s/early 2000s. I just stumbled across this page, and I wanted to let you know how much your classes have affected me; I just had my final critique for advanced ceramics, which I probably wouldn't have thought to take if I hadn't had such wonderful memories of throwing at Lafayette. For some reason I still remember learning about Seurat in your class, so when a painting of his showed up on an art history final last term, I immediately thought of you. I hope you're doing well!

    1. SO GREAT to hear from you and so sweet of you to take the time to comment. I would love to see photos of some of your ceramic work... I'm actually getting back into the studio myself this summer at Glen Echo and I can't wait!

    2. So jealous that you'll be at Glen Echo--I'm trying to figure out when I'll next have a chance to throw. I'll definitely take pictures before I pack everything up (not sure how I'll get everything home!) and email some to you soon. Have a great summer!
